My 5month old is just going to be wearing 9-12 month old next clothing as the length on 6-9 is too short. Does anyone else find baby clothing too small for the size? Or know of any make which is slightly longer than most to fit her long legs

I really think it depends on where you shop. My daughter is just 2 and in one shop she wears one size and in different shops she is never in the same size. Most of my daughters clothes are up 12 - 18 months. My sisters daughter is 1 and she is in bigger clothes than my daughter, she shops quite a bit at George(Asda) and Tesco and its easy to try clothes on in store. I find Mothercare and Primark are good. Mothercare is more expensive but they do the elastic waists. For longer legs try kids section in Marks and spencers. You can get bigger sizes in there and they also do the adjustment waistbands.
Good luck xx

My daughter is very petite! At 5 months old she only weighs 13 lbs but is very tall..I find that some 3 month clothes fit while some 6-9 month old clothes are too small! My advice is to get clothing in a bigger size as it will shrink when you wash and dry it..Alot of my daughter's pants are great for length but too big on the waste so I just put stitches on the sides of the pants..Its great for the moment and you are able to move them easily as the baby grows..Good luck :)

Just like adult clothes the brand may affect the size (I wear between size 12-16) baby clothes are the same way. There are some 1-3 mos clothes that are the same size as 6-9 mos. My children at 6 mos wore 3-12 mos clothes. Complain with the clothing companies.

that is soooo normal usually a child will wear a bigger size than the clothes say he/she should! My little girl was 5 weeks early and she is now 11 months she is fitting into 18 month clothes and perfectly into 12 month( remember she was small ) a normal baby goes up 1 size from what they are like 5-6 month old can wear a 6-9 month clothes fine!! I find that at department stores the sizes run a little big( like at Dillard's, Jcpenny's..etc)

Ps going a little big is fine, helps so they can wear the clothes longer!!!

Our girls were always in at least a size bigger than there "specified" clothes according to the tags. They were always at a healthy weight, they're just really tall for their ages! My youngest is currently 21 months and for pants she doesn't even fit into 18-24 months, they are too short! My 3 year old has to wear 5 year old pants for length (but they don't quite fit her because she's not that big!)

Tag size doesn't really mean the most, it's just a suggestion. I wouldn't worry!

I have the same problem with my 3 month old baby boy, the clothes are just too short. I have managed to get some stuff from Next which seems to be a bit generous in length and also some sleeping suits and vests from pennys/primark.

Yes! My boy is 6 months old and is wearing clothes for 9-12 months. He is not fat, just thriving beautifully, and I am so proud of him! I just buy the bigger sizes and that works for him. I don't know of a company who makes longer legs though, its normally all in proportion to the rest of the body.
You must be very proud too!

Walmart's babies clothes are huge. Some of the stuff from carters is pretty big as well.

It doesnt matter what size she's in, just put her in the size that fits. Every baby grows at different rates, some babies are longer or shorter, others are wider or narrower. Its just part of being a baby. The sizes are really just suggestions.

Baby clothing sizes are so weird. If 9-12 month clothing fits then use it. My daughter was in 2T at nine months old.

my niece is in the 97th percentile for height. She is just over one year old and is already wearing clothing for babies aged 18-24 months old. I think you just have to buy bigger sizes. My baby also is not very big but she is in some clothes that size it as 12 months (little jeans) and thats from please mum and there is no way theyd ever fit her then because they fit her now..mabye some places just list clothing sizes differently then others.
