Life Is What You Make It,So Make It Great!

The birth of a child is a new beginning for mankind I believe that the words of Max Ehrmann's poem Desiderata are good advice for man and mankind the text has already been given and I am sorry I was so slow off the mark
The one line I would choose for George would be the last line, as by being cheerful you bring happiness to others and in striving to be happy you generally positively influence those around you to do likewise. A long and happy life to George.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

The Desiderata
Says it all really

As someone has already pipped me to the post with "Desiderata", I'll offer a few short quotes:

"All that is essential for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Edmund Burke

"The measure of a man's real chracter is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out". Thomas Macaulay

"Do something for somebody every day for which you do not get paid". Albert Schweitzer

And one for you:

"What a father says to his children is not heard by the world, but it will be heard by posterity". Jean Paul Richter

Congrats on the birth of little George. I hope mum is doing fine too.

Well being born on the 11/11 is actually VERY significant to wisdom. Alot of gifted people see the number 11 or 1111 as seen it as a powerful number. Being born on this day is purely spiritual.
Eleven is the number of light.
George your wisdom will supass others and bring people happiness.

Cheers

George should remember that which was said by Tom Hanks: "May you live as long as you want, and not want as long as you live." You should remember the words of David O. McKay: "No worldly success can make up for failure within the home." Good luck with your son and I hope he grows to become a great man. ;-)

I would say to George that the secret to life is not getting what you want but actually wanting what you have.

Also that you're health is you're wealth, without that you have nothing.

Enjoy life you don't get a re-run.

life is a long and winding road. find your own path but sometimes you will need guiding, let me know when you need advice and i will listen and not judge or force decisions upon you. take pride in your achievements and learn from your own mistakes. whenever it rains a blue sky will follow. and never forget who loves you the most. your mummy and daddy.

As he was born on Armistice Day i would suggest "we will remember them". If he realises the true meaning behind those words he will grow up proud of his country, protective of his family and way of life, tolerent of others and respectful.

Congratulations on your baby boy. I hope he brings you many years of joy and laughter.
