What do you think about it?
One of my friends is engaged to a nineteen year old guy. We've met him and he's very, very cool. He asked her hand in marriage and they've been engaged since 2003. Now, I don'y know, but it just seems wierd that a 19-year old would fall in love with a 12-year old. We're worried that he might do something inappropriate and abuse her in some way in the furture, but what do you think? Was it right that she said yes to him, especially since she hasn't even had a chance with other guys? I mean, he's the only guy she's ever "been in love with" and it doesn't seem right that she has her feelings about guys straighta nd knows what she wants at this age... She hasn't even gone through any emotional and/or mental "growing pains." I don't think it's right, but I still think it's love.

Her parents know the guy and think he's a good person. He hangs around the house a lot, so her parents don't find it wierd when they're alone together.

As for the sex stuff, he says he's a virgin... and that he only plans on losing his virginity when she's ready. And no, no ring yet. But he's told us, her friends, that he'll be giving one to her this Christmas.

Ah, and previously in a 5 year relationship with a girl his age... They broke up long ago, too. Does that say anything?

It may be love, but there are many different types of love. I had my first love, then my second love, and even a third. I even dated a 18 yr old when I was 12, and I thought I loved him. But later I realized that he was an insecure little man. He only dated me because I was pretty and nice, while girls his age wouldn't talk to him (i wonder why). At that age, 7 years is a huge maturity gap, or should be. I highly suspect that something is going on with this guy, that your friend may be to naive and innocent to even fathom. PS - legally if they do have sex, he will be considered a CHILD MOLESTER, not matter how much she consents to it.

she's only 12 and doesn't know what love is yet. Heck even Montel Williams admitted that he doesn't understand love and he's like 50! No one can understand love at any age! Forget engagement! It's wrong! Only God can put two people together unless they want to be together without the bothersome red tape of government - government belongs in no one's marriage.

This is insane and stupid.....he can easily abuse her later on in life....a woman down the street from me was just killed by her husband- they dated when she was 13 got married at 16..he brainwashed her at such a young age that she couldnt be without him...she will regret this.

the 19 yr old is a pedophile, the 12 yr old is a victim, tell another adult, a teacher, or the police. This is not LOVE...

No, it isn't love. She is only 12 years old. She doesn't know what love is.

Neither does the 19 year old boy. Trust me, it won't last long. When she grows up, she'll want to experience with herself and her body. She will want to go out and hang out with her friends and meet gusy. It will not last long.

This is not healthy. 12 yr old needs time to grow and the 19yr old needs to move on.

Are you Jealous?! Let her parents handle it. You are not accountable for her. You won't be friends long if she knows your Y! name, then you'll be asking "How do I get my friend back..."
