If you live in Delhi, Agra should be worth visiting at the week end. If you are an outsider, see Delhi only. There is plenty to see.
Do not miss Garden of Five Senses. It is marvellous.

Considering that you have only a weekend, you should try out the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri. Not too far from Delhi and will be a memoriable trip (i.e. if you haven't been there already)!!

Not much needs to be written about the Taj Mahal as it is one of the 7 wonders of the world; so I'll just give you some info on how to reach the place.

Agra by Road
Idgah bus stand is the main bus stand of Agra, from where one can catch buses for Delhi.

Agra by Rail
Agra is well connected by railroad. The main railway station is the Agra Cantonment station. Agra is well connected by rail to Delhi. Shatabdi, Rajdhani, and Taj Express are the best choices if you want to reach Agra from Delhi in luxury.

Local Transport in Agra
You can travel to different parts of Agra using different modes of transport like taxi, tempo, auto-rickshaw and cycle rickshaw from the Taj Mahal area. Prepaid taxis and autos from the railway station are available. Prepaid transport is also available for excursions in and around the city limits. Bicycles can be hired on hourly basis from different parts of the city. It is to be remembered that no diesel or petrol vehicle are allowed to ply in the Taj Mahal area. Battery-operated buses, horse-driven tongas, rickshaws and other pollution-free vehicles are allowed to conserve the beauty of this great monument.

FATEHPUR SIKRI
The buildings within Fatehpur Sikri are a unique blend of different architectural traditions. Though the general layout and concept of the buildings conform to the Islamic style of architecture, the actual buildings (mainly palaces), their ornate columns, arches, carving style, etc., show a strong Hindu style in general and that of Gujarat and Rajasthan in particular.

Dedicated by Emperor Akbar to his patron saint Sheikh Salim Chisti, Fatehpur Sikri was also Akbar's imperial capital for fifteen years. The new city, built on a ridge, grew into a magnificent township larger than contemporary London. A splendid edifice, the fort today rests in quiet peace - a mute witness to the times gone by.

From Agra to Fatehpur Sikri
You can travel to Fatehpur Sikri from Agra, by the daily train that runs from Agra Fort Railway Station. Buses and taxies are also available from Agra for Fatehpur Sikri.

Just remember to carry loads of film or an extra memory card for your camera!!!

Have fun... :-)

Cheers
Pooja
