Statistically, more men are hit by lighting, (only a percentage of whom die as a result, by the way), because men are more likely to hold jobs that are outdoor based, and are more likely to engage in outdoor activities. Simply a sampling error based on who is available for the lightning to strike.

People have about a 1 in 76,000 chance of being struck by lightning and killed in their lifetime. Because many, many more men than women play golf, and because the vast majority of these strikes take place on golf courses, men are more likely to get struck...

nice one, neilinhp...
I can think of 3 possible reasons that men might be more vulnerable:
1. Men are generally taller than women, hence make better lighning rods.
2. Men's bodies generally have higher iron content than women, hence raising men's conductivity (maybe).
3. More men are idiot golfers, standing in the middle of a grass field swinging a steel/carbon rod around during lightning storms.

Yes, my friend Adam told me once 88% of the people who get hit by lightning are men (he is a geek)
Probably because:
1. lighting hits the tallest object, men are usually taller then women, so a woman would have to be out alone to get hit
2. lighting will usually only hit you if you are away from tall metal objects, like telephone poles, etc. you would have to be on, like a golf course to get hit or hunting in a meadow, which are activities men usually do.
3. a woman would go inside when it starts to rain so her hair does not get messed up.
