I dont think dwarf puffers are freshwater because where I got them they told they needed salt. I did put salt on their tank and they have been doing fine. I also want to know if they can be kept with marine fish. I would also like to get a web site.

Not marine, dwarf puffers Carinotetraodon travancoricus are one of the freshwater puffers. They like heavily planted aquariums to feel at ease. http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/Fishindx/puf-trav.htm

Pet stores don't always know everything.

http://www.liveaquaria.com

has info on dwarf puffers.

They're a type of puffer that is only freshwater, not brackish or anything. So they won't be able to live with marine fish. But as for the salt you've been putting in, most freshwater fish, actually benefit from the addition of some salt in their water.

There are other types of puffers that are marine, you can look into those.

I believe that dwarf puffers are brackish. That means that in the wild, their natural habitat is not-quite-marine, and not-quite freshwater. There's a ton of info online about keeping a brackish aquarium; links below.
