You may like to try some of the online programmes that allow you to work at home, whenever you like. They do require either a one-time payment or a monthly subscription. If you're really low on cash, choose one that you can afford. There are some that are quite affordable in my opinion.
I'm not exactly sure if they're scams or not, but I guess it's worth a try if u really want to make some extra money while you stay home with your children. I would have tried some of them for myself, if not for the fact that I'm still a student and do not have extra money for such progs. =(
If you happen to need links to these programmes, just drop me a msg and I'd gladly help. =)
On the other hand, try getting yourself into some network marketing company available in your country. Where I come from, some such companies actually have quite good compensation plans/schemes.

There're usually ads in the local papers offering working from home possibilities, though I'd avoid pyramid-selling or anything like 'Dream Builders' if you can as they tend to brainwash.
With the rise of new technology for dictation, there are, I believe, some secretarial jobs you can do from home - like a typing pool of people at their own PCs.
Take on a few delivery rounds for Next, Littlewoods, Debenhams etc - they always need reliable delivery people, especially in the run-up to Xmas, and you use your own car.
eBay might offer a solution, though you do need a fair bit of business acumen to make much money.
A friend of mine with a small son does a part-time home cleaning job, which isn't very interesting but pays quite well per hour.
Could you perhaps leave the children with a family member a couple fo days or evenings a week and work in a pub or do shift work at a supermarket?
Depends on your area of expertise and your experience really. Ask the local JobCentre if they can advise, and scour the 'papers for part-time or working from home jobs. It's usually PC and 'phone based jobs that you can do from your own home, so might be worth googling those, or try

Good luck.

Can u drive? When me and my brother were kids my mum delivered catalogues while we were in the car. She said it was boring but it paid the bills. If you're creative perhaps you could make something, bracelets, cakes, christmas cards and then set up a website selling them or sell them at a local craft fair? There are bound to be some about at the moment as it's coming up to Christmas.
As a one off you could do a car boot? I've done a few Car Boot Sales in my time which always raise some cash but it depends if you've got anything you want to sell or not.
Can u put in additional details which area you live in as there are some good websites for where i live which have links to other local "jobs from home" sites that i could put up here for you.
Good luck with it all!

I am a stay at home mom too......I dont wont to sound like a telemarketer or anything but if your looking for a break and financial freedom..then this is it. I have been looking for a job for a long time now...and I had pretty much given up with the whole working at home thing. Well I had put a question on yahoo just like you...and I got so mnay responses, half of them were scams, until I clicked on the right one. It is a company called AMERIPLAN that sells discounted dental, vision, chiropratic, and prescription cards saving people up to 80% on their visits. This isnt insurance, but it SAVES SO MUCH. We are in with the BBB and have been on 60 minutes. Your income is residual..meaning your are constantly making money. I hope you look into this, because I swear to you this is not a scam. Spread the word about it...and if your interested visit my website or email me @ cam_smw_kmm@yahoo.com

HI Jesse-Ja,
I understand your position. I work from home for the same
reason. And this suits me best.
Don't be desperate. Its time to act smart.
You could definitely earn an income from home doing
what I am doing, however you would have to suit
the criteria for the position e.g. good communication skills,
computer training skills, commitment to hours to work,
positivity & passion.
A few more attributes are required.
If you would like more information feel free to contact
me. I would be very pleased to help.
Best wishes,
Fleur

There are some sites that offer jobs that you can do from home - these can be tele-calls, envelope posting etc. Or set up your own chat-line (yuk I know but...) it means that you could stay home and earn the money
The link below though is a Job site specialising in Home Jobs (secretarial etc)

OK, this is a completely new program, so time will tell, but it is completely free to join, so what have you got to lose? You can get paid good money to watch one 30 minute commercial per week on your computer and answer a short questionnaire. I put some details on my google page. Check it out.

Why don't you apply for a job in school dinners, or a playground assistant, teaching assistant. In any of these jobs, they revolve around the school year, so when the kids are off school, so are you.

Why not look into registering yourself as a childminder. That way you can still look after your children plus get paid to look after another..
