At that age, I don't think he's even able to see the images. He's just looking at the movements and lights. And as for all the crap about kids turning out horrible for watching tv...that's bull! I've been watching tv my whole entire life. I had a normal childhood, but I just really liked television, and movies. My parents and I would go to the movies every weekend, and it was great! I never was diagnosed with ADHD, or anything...I was a good student, and I rarely got into any trouble and what do you know, I graduated from college and am not a sociopath! Its okay to let your kids watch tv...you just have to make sure you spend equal amounts of time with them doing other activities.

If your child has trouble turning away from the TV and interacting with you then I would turn it off. Like if you are making funny noises and whatnot and he is still starring at the screen.
I was in the habit of keeping the TV on for noise all the time but my baby would get completely sucked in. So now I only turn it on after a certain time when there is stuff on I want to watch.
They say not to let kids under 2 watch TV but that would mean never having it on when they are awake and I find that impossible.
However if it is bugging you enough that you are asking about it here, you probably already know your answer. You need to change things, at least for awhile.

My children have watched TV since beginning of time. Infants like the bright colors and the shapes. If you're worried about the TV issue than you can buy educational infant videos like baby Einstein. Also Nick Jr, Disney and Nogin channels are great for educational cartoons. I watched a lot of cartoons growing up and I am perfectly happy and healthy. I have a 3 y/o and 6 y/o who love cartoons and are happy and healthy. TV usage is a personal choice and as long as the TV watching isn't affecting exercise or developement, who cares!!!

No. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no TV for kids under 2. When we had our daughter, once she started actually being aware the TV was on and looking in that direction we quit watching unless she was asleep. TV rewires developing brains and can cause ADHD. It may also be the cause of autism, though more studies need to be done to determine if that is the case. That is a habit I wouldn't start!

If your baby occasionally watches TV while you are, I wouldn't worry. However, I'd never sit him in front of the TV or allow him to watch for very long. My kids didn't really start watching TV until they were 3 or so ... and even then, it was limited because there are so many other things to do.

I don't see why not. Some people say that kids who watch tv at a young age, develop problems, but my son watched tv with me and he has just turned three and he is smart enough to get into kindegarten already. He only watches educational shows, such as sesame street, though.

He won't actually be watching it but just seeing the lights and the vague movements....suppose its part of their growing experience. At 2 months old - he's just having a look around to see whats what...ie what can he get up to when he can get their himself...bless.

many pediatricians suggest for children not to watch tv until they are older than two years old. but at two months he is just seeing the lights. i think the recomendation of not watching tv has to do with learning from tv shows vs. learning from books and games. it should be fine.
