In regular Cars without ABS [Anti Lock Breaking system] when you slam on the brakes suddenly to prevent an accident the wheels lock making it impossible for you to change direction of the car while breaking.
ABS prevents this from happening .

Your best option is to call a locksmith. They have special tools for opening car door locks which will cause no damage to your car. The only other alternatives, such as using a coat hanger, a screwdriver, or breaking a door window could wind up being even more expensive in the long run. Coat hangers and screw drivers could potentially get jammed in your door mechanism and damage the operation of your windows and/or door locks. Breaking a window causes an obvious expense, unless, you leave it unreplaced and don't mind driving a car which will be a sitting duck for would-be thieves. I suggest you call around and get the most reasonably priced locksmith you can find to help you out of your predicament. Let this episode be a lesson to you. Get a spare car key made and keep it in your wallet. It might even be best to get several made and keep a couple of spares in your house as well. You never know what sorts of circumstances will arise in the future. Good luck resolving your problem.
