You obviously haven't met my Uncle...he's a bachelor...but he's hardly eligible...you'd have to evict the 27 people that live inside his head first.

No, not all bachelors are eligible, some just don't make it to the "big show" or even get a change to go to the "big show." For example Jerry on Seinfeld is totally eligible George, however is not.

You cannot mistake the term single for eligible. The older men get who are single, the more likely they'll remain that way. Some are too emotionally damaged from past relationships and have nothing to offer. They're too worn out in their heart. It's sad really.

I would hope so, remembering the definitions of those words! Maybe people see an 'eligible bachelor' as someone who's putting himself out there, saying 'hey, I'm here' or something....

That's one thing about men that I guess I can't figure out too well, I dunno.....nm.....

Some have less scruples than others. If they're the type of person to hop on anything with a strong pulse, they're more eligible than others.

If, in your mind, "eligible" means "available for marriage," then yes, all bachelors are available.
However just because they're available doesn't mean they're approachable or even attractive.

Maybe not to everyone. The question I ask myself is, do I make myself eligible to those for which I would like to be?

Yes..
I suppose it would be power and prestige that they have in society in general.. It would be more alluring to potential partners, especially those who like to climb the social ladder in life..
