I'd like to ask Brendan, if the Cuban people love Castro so much, why are they all living in Miami?

Castro did what he thinks is right for his country and
stood up against the U.S.A. Castro was a hero in a
sense and what's so wrong in asking for help from
the Soviets and China, everyone would do the same
under the circumstances. If he didn't, America would
most certainly have invaded Cuba and replaced Castro
with a puppet government, I am not implying that America
was wrong in defending itself from the Soviet threat of
deploying their missiles right along its doorsteps.
To some, Castro was a hated and evil figure but to most
cubans, he was a hero and in my opinion, he still is.

Castro has governed his Island nation for 47 years and always oppose the United States yet his only accomplishment is to sink his country in to poverty isolationism and misery just because he will never in his words bow to the US I see many countries in Latin America that have different relations wit the US and don't have to suffer like Cuba do, is all an excuse to keep him and his brother in power and comfort Cuba is not a democracy is not a Communist state is a little militarist kingdom ruled by the comandante Castro and family but is up to the Cubans living there to do something about it no one else to answer the question I think both and he is good at it.

Castro collected all the people from his prisons and those who disagreed with his politics (men, women, children and old people) packed them into small boats and pushed them out to sea. Untold thousands drowned or were eaten by sharks, many were lucky enough to land in US where they had the chance to make a decent life for themselves. Yet I am not really surprised that none of the usual PC hypocrites suggest he should be taken to the Haig to face trial for human rights abuse as he so richly deserves

A great man of the people who has managed to survive many authorised assassination attempts by the USA government.
The USA have tried to vilify him for 40 years as they have done with so many others that do not accept the American Dream or is it Nightmare.
The USA is at it again promising "democracy to Cuba" as they are doing in Iraq and responsible for the deaths of 3,000 Iraqis per month.
I hope Cuba survives the USA gift of democracy.

I don't think Fidel Castro is a genius, nor is he honorable, by my definition of a Communist dictator. I guess that would make him a hated figure of power. He certainly has held the island of Cuba in his power for nearly 50 years.

Despite 47 years of US propaganda,Fidel Castro has endured because the Cuban people love him. He'll be considered one of the great leaders when the history books are written.
