I 'm trying to copy some pictures to disc for the first time and when I hit "copy" I'm told there is no disc in the drive. There IS a DVD writable disc in the drive. Any ideas?

When burning data to disc, you dont copy/paste files. You need to drag and drop them onto your CD drive. This will open a "To Burn" window. Once you have all the files you want in that window, you can click to start writing the disk.

First, ensure that the drive is compatible with that type of disc. If you only have a CD-R or a CD-RW, you'll need a CD writable disc, not a dvd disc.

Secondly, make sure the drive is properly installed. If you don't have the proper drivers to install it, it may only register as a read only drive .. meaning it can read information, but not write.

Hi,

You need to put a CD in the drive for Pictures to be copied, NOT a DVD.

Trouble shooting DVD's is not always easy....

What I usually do is first of all make sure there are no problems with the disk. So I wash it with soap and water and dry. Next I do a test with some data to make sure that you can write something to it. This may cost you a disk. In my opinion, this is bad technology and always has been. Many computer DVD's, CD's etc.. are touchy and take extra dilligence just to get them to record. Personally, I use Roxio and the drag to disk feature in this software works pretty well.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
