The thing is, I've not really 'lived' much and am quite homely. I tend to get excited about things that perhaps other people of my age might not do, but I want to come over as being like I'm used to 'life' whilst out with my worldly friend. I had a word with my mother and told her how looking forward I was to tonight and she said, "Make out you're used to it all though". How can I do that?

yeah, i used to be excited about going out with friends, drinking, etc. but now i feel like i am satisfied all those popular culture games. i still go out with them now and then but i usually prefer to read, listen my music , have coffee, go to sport, etc. i feel better like that. i dont like spending too much mney for drinking r filling my head with empty-noise. sometimes i think i would like to do similar things but when i go to these kind of places, i realize that i dont like that sort of entertainments any longer. maybe it is because of age, because of changing thoughts about society and people. there is nothing to feel negative abotu yourself. do whatever you feel like to do.

I'm sure your wordly friend would rather see you enthusiastic and excited about a fairly new experience for you than put on world-weariness!

Be yourself, enjoy it! Ask if you are not sure how to carry on in the restaurant etc. (cutlery from outside in!)

I dont really agree with your mother - why should you pretend you're used to all that sort of thing if you are not? Be natural.

I honestly hope you have a really super time, and i'm sure you will.

I disagree with your mother's advise. If you "Make out you're used to it all though", your behaviour is bound to give you away and then you will be thought of as a shallow fraud. Be yourself and watch how others behave. There is nothing wrong with appearing a little naive provided that you do not make comments that cause embarrassment to your escort. Unless you feel confident with it, avoid ordering food that is awkward to eat such as oysters (juice down the dress),or lobster (fighting the old chap for the meat out of his legs).

Good luck and have a wonderful time.

PS Infobod is plainly jealous and wants to ruin your evening.

Just enjoy it!! Nobody will care if your excited about it and your company will prefer to be around somebody who is genuinely having a good time rather than a faker pretending to have done it all before!

The best thing about not having seen much of life, is that there is so much new stuff to discover and enjoy. Don't try to dampen that by pretending you've seen it before.

Revel in the experience. You're only young once.

Be yourself it is you who was invited not some non existant figment of your imagination. You will be appreciated for being natural an only too rare quality tody and if your friend is as worldly as you say then he will be able to a enjoy sharing these new experiences with you.

the answer is to not be something your not. Go to the show, have your meal but most important relax and enjoy it - that's the best way of looking as if you know what your doing but then who cares what other people think, its your life, your entitled to live it as you please.

If I was taking someone out I'd love for them to be all excited about it ..... I find it spoils it a bit if they've 'been there, done that' too much .....

if you are really good friends then conversation will come naturally, otherwise i wouldn't worry, just be yourself, if you try to be someone else you will only be uncomfortable.

i hope you have a lovely time.
