Yes and No...

Why ?

because:

* Is it the music that we heard effecting our way of thought, or our way of thought that effect the music we choose to listen to?

Do You wore gothic outfit because you listen to Gothic Gothic? or
Do You Listen to Gothic Music because you wore Gothic Outfit? or
Do you Wore and listen Gothic because you're agree with Gothic Philosophy? or
Do you wore and listen Gothic because your friend also did and you think that it's cool, and you'll be cool if do the same?

(I use the term 'Gothic' only as an example here, You can Subtitute it with your own culture/taste)

* Is it the music or the artist/celebrities that is related?

is it really the music that you're into/liked, or is it because you think that the artist/celebrities are cool, and you became a fan of him/her, and you think that you must also like their work? so you said that you like their work...

People used to say "Don't judge the book by it's cover",
I would say don't judge to fast, not before you know enough information about it... even, don't judge at all, because it's not our part to judge, it's His part...

Hope this help
Bless You

It think it does in most cases.
Because bands and soloist have an imagine to obtain and followers of that particular musician would tend to copy the artists style. Which is why you can almost determine a person style of music just by looking at them because all their doing is mimicking the artist, but its normally done unconsciously.

Other factors could be that it just happens to be the persons personalty. The persons way of dressing just happens to match the style of the musician or type of music.

And the other reason would be peer pressure, the need to fit in. If for example they went to a metal concert and everyone there is wearing black trench coats and spiky hair, how out of place would you be if you wear colour full stylish clothes, very!

I dunno whether it directly could cause a change in the kind of clothes etc that you're into. However, if you're in to a certain type of music, you're more likely to dress a certain way because you're probably involved in that specific music scene. I.e if you're into punk, you'll go to punk nights and start socialising with other punks who dress in a certain way. Therefore, you migh start dressing in a certain way. Personally, Im well into evil drum n bass and hardcore techno- the nights I go to are very relaxed, no-one dresses up or anything like that (dancing loads and getting sweaty means wearing trainers and light clothing). That does, in the end, affect my clothes in everyday life. Im always very casual and comfy and NEVER wear high heels like most girls (dont understand them at all!) :-) Also, I feel able to have my hair however I want, because no one cares within the scene that I socialise. That scene just happens to be a specific music scene aswell!

I think that has more to do with what the people writing the music are wearing, and their hair style, etc. Y'know, some people aspire to be exactly like the musicians they love. Probably goes for teenagers more than adults. Since teens are still trying to find out who they are or who they want to be.
