depends on the driver

there is a Volvo P1800 in America with 2,000,000 miles on it.

I know a London taxi company who does the Heathrow runs several times a day and they have two Vauxhall Omegas with 600,000 on each.

I know some one else who ran a taxi service day and night and they had a Citroen Xantia with 400,000 in 3 years. I had a Passat that did 200,000 and is still running strong. German Taxi drivers drive e class mercedes diesels and they expect them to last forever.

Change the oil every 6000 miles and use something like Mobil 1 and 300,000 should be easy.

Mercedes Benz Has cars they bought back that have traveled 2 million miles. 240 diesel and a 300 turbo diesel. Carefull attention to air and oil filters cars travel much farther these days. Because Gasoline fuel injection never floods down the cyl walls engines and oil last longer. Just by changing oil often and replacing air filters every 10,000 miles. Most new gasoline cars will see 250,000. I work on 1997 Nissan Maxima that has over 450,000 miles.

a car can go asfar as the car can. so a merc being built to the highest standard can last much longer than other brands.

after a certain millaege of 200,000 or more the dial restarts back to zero again.

no many cars do more than 200,000 without repair, or new parts

It depends on the car - some old Mercedes etc have done much more than that - I have heard of cars doing 500,000 miles and even more. It depends how well the car has been looked after and how it has been driven, but some makes just go on for ever.

Cortinas seem to last forever. Of course that can be said of a lot of quality cars--Toyota, Mercedes, Rolls, etx. The main thing is to keep them serviced and replace parts as needed. Theoretically a car can last forever if one repairs as needed, including engine, and also keeps up on service.
One of my toyotas had 350K on the clock and still ran well when I sold it, and I had put little into it actually, other than service. It was that good!
And to J.Paul, Good show for you and that Nissan!!!

Depends on how many digits is on the speedometer if like your suggesting 6 digits then in theory it can go to 999,999 before clicking back to zero & assuming a car would last that long

I've seen a honda with 500,000 just keep the oil changed and it tuned up be nice to it and it will have a long life span. It also depends if it is a diesel or a gas guzzler. Diesels last longer

The first Honda to hit 999,999 was here in little Nova Scotia Canada. Was driven by a courier who would drive from one end of the province to the other each day. Honda bought it and put it in a showroom...

I depends on how the car is looked after and if its seviced regulary. It will keep going and if you replace parts when they break and look after it really well.
In theory i could go forever if you got enough money to throw at it when it breaks down. (and you can still get parts for it).

one of my friends had a BMW that had 500,000 on the clock and also i saw a golf with 260,000 on the clock and both still going strong!!
