I've often seen this mistake made, so perhaps it's worth a (pedantic, rite-filled) entry.

12:00am is the same as midnight (or 00h00), and is preceded by 11:00pm, and followed by 01:00am. It's dark at this time.

12:00pm is the same as midday (or noon), and is preceded by 11:00am, and is followed, an hour later, by 1:00pm. It's daylight at this time, and you're probably about to have lunch.

12pm on Thursday 23rd is midday, just as it is on Friday 24th, Saturday 25th, ad infinitum.

depends on which part of the world you come from. For my money I am with the midnight crowd. After all 1pm is the start of the afternoon, so logically 12pm must come after it. Yes?

ive wondered the same thing. midday. b/c 11:59 am is morning, and pm starts at 12. likewise for 11:59 pm at nite, am starts at 12.

Depends on if its the 24hr clock or not :) 12:00 is midday 00:00 is midnight.

on the 24 hour clock 2400 hours is midnight since 1200 hours equals 12 noon i.e. 12am. then I would say that 12pm. is midnight
