I justed started my car and put in reverse. It does not want to move. I pushed the car back (placing it in neutral) and put into drive.

The car moves when placed in drive. It first struggles to go but then it catches it self and then drives fine. At first I thought it was some bad gas I placed in the car (4 month old gas that I had in my garage) but know I am wondering if it something more serious.

Any suggestions?

The Transmission sounds low on fluid or needs the Filter Changed. Fuel won't stop a car in only one direction. Depending on the car not all transmissions are servicable. If possible check the fliud level and color. If it is dark brown or wet with mouisture before you start the car it is bad fluid. Check the fliud level per your cars service manual. http://www.wen2k.com/tell.php?Id=804 west.herb@yahoo.com

Your car may be low on transmission fluid, or the transmission filter may need changing. If the car has a lot of miles on it, the transmission may need to be replaced or rebuilt. Like an engine, the transmission needs to be serviced also. Try putting the transmission in neutral for 30 seconds before you try to drive. If that helps, you are low on fluid. Happy Thanksgiving.

first check your trans fluid with engine running. with a hot engine it should read full if low add the spesific type of trans fluid to top it off dont add to much and dont add the wrong kind which could eat at the seals and cause more prpoblems
if fluid is full trans may need rebuilding or possably some electrial work
pray for your sake and your wallet its just low on fluid
