I'm off to Brighton for the weekend and am staying at the Old Ship Hotel - anyone know it? So, Brightonites - tell me me where to go, where to eat, where to find great live music. And the Lanes, are they difficult to navigate on foot?

I live in Brighton, its a great place, The old ship is right on the Seafront and looks quite nice though I have never stayed there.

the lanes are only navigable on foot, and you can get lost but they are not huge so you will always be able to walk out to one of the main streets - just take a map, or ask anyone - brightonites don't bite! look out for the armoury - very interesting little shop to poke around in.

Live music wise - the Pavillion tavern on North St usually has a band on Friday nights, also Casablanca on Middle st is good for live music with a bit of a jazzy feel and a good atmosphere.

The pavillion (kings palace) is worth a look around, and the pier is a good place if you like rides and side shows. (good for a laugh at least!)

There are a million and 1 eateries with good food, The hop poles (on middle st) is a pub with a great food, the black lion (black lion st) is good for pub grub as well...there are plenty of italian restaurants and pizzerias and gourmet burger kitchen in the north laine is a personal favourite!

for going out audio (just past the pier) is usually good, with lots of different DJ's - no collared shirts allowed though!
