It may still be hot when it's cold, but it gets even hotter as is progresses through your body.

The next morning, it is so hot as to be positively painful. Ouch!

Chilli makes curry hot to taste, not the temperature. The element in chilli that does this is called capsaicin. If it's too hot for you, try having some yoghurt afterwards, or adding yoghurt to the curry. The fat in the yoghurt dilutes the chilli and reduces the heat.

In the past food wasn't always fresh & to cover the taste of bad food people added stuff to cover up the bad taste of bad food.

Today people still think that you have to have high levels of spices etc, in food to make it taste good. Even to the point of makeing it taste bad.

If you are hungry enough even a dry crust of bread will taste good to you.
