I think that would be fantastic. It would benefit both England and Scotland to be separate countries.
Scotland would become more independent and England would save a fortune in tax money (statistically per capita Scotland receives 1.4 times what it generates in tax).
Scotland should be totally independent of the UK. It can, if the Scottish people want to, have it's own monarch or indeed like the commonwealth retain Queen Elizabeth as their monarch and still remain as a separate nation.

Two choices: a Scottish republic or a Scottish monarchy. Which will it be? Both have a precedent. The clans were a democracy in the making. But many fought for a Scot sovereign. A combo? Why not find the middle ground and create a constitutional monarchy unlike any other.

specific, I do think of the united kingdom will shop the Royal family members simply by fact the sole thank you to eliminate them is to bypass a regulation. And to bypass that lord the Queen or King has to conform to it. i'm unable to confirm any of them agreeing to that! And in line with the guy who suggested the greater youthful technology do not consider the monarchy, i'm a 13 300 and sixty 5 days old who's a like the Monarchy

Well that could be a good idea, but guess who is now the most eligable Stewart to sit on the throne?

Lady Dianna Spencer was a decendant of the Stewarts. Her eldest son is set to take the Crown of England, Wales and Scotland.

This re-establishes the superior claim to the throne of the stewart line.

(I am English BTW)

That would only happen in an independent Socialist Scotland. There are too many romantic nationalists who want to revert to an idealised Scotland before the English bribed the Scottish ruling class with titles, land and money to accept union.

Last time this was tried (1649-1650), it was the Scottish that crowned Charles Stuart Charles the Second of Scotland in the face of English republicanism.

Even today, support for your proposition may not be as strong as you think.

i live in england although i for one think that the people of scotland should be given the right to vote on whether or not to be independent and sever links with the uk and to have their own scottish monarchy. the royal family represent england at most, rather than scotland, northern ireland and wales as well

The monarchy nowadays is just a symbol and have not
been a hindrance in any way so I don't see any reason
for abolishing it. Independence has a good ring to it and
in my opinion, England would be better off without the
Scots of Irish for that matter. Always fighting and whining
they be.and speaks in a foreign language as well.

Of course, or would you want to track down the most direct living descendant of the Stuart line and make him/her the hereditary monarch?
Or keep the Hannovers?

Aw come on now. Don't be so stuffy. Scotland and England are like an old married couple. Can't live with them, can't live without them.
Besides, your monarchy is a role model of a beautiful free country with a long-standing monarchy.
God save the queen! Cheerio!
