Very very few.

Southend has a 2% ethnic minorities, any Portuguese are included in that.

The majority of that 2 % are Chinese. At one point the council wanted to build a mini-Chinatown at the far end of the High Street.

I worked for Southend Council until recently, and I did a lot of the 'diversity' stuff. Portuguese never came up on any list of minorities in the town, so there can only be a handful.

The only hint I've ever had of their being any Portuguese at all is the Portuguese Deli in Hamlet Court Road.
