I have a three year old son and last year july i had a period that lasted for 3 1/2 weeks. I had taken the injection as contraceptive so i assumed that might be the cause. The same thing is happening now , my period started 3 weeks ago and hasnt stopped yet. its not heavy though just normal. Should i be worried? coz i sure as hell dont want the month to go by in this situation. My boyfriend is also worried coz he thinks my body is trying to tel me something on top of the fact that he cant get any sex whilst i am like this. Pliz help.

Shouldn't you ask a doctor or advice nurse, instead of on yahoo answers?

Does the bleeding last for this long after you have taken the injection pill or not because it doesnt agree with a lot of women. I spotted a lot during taking the injection pill and so stopped. I would also say for you to check it out with ur Dr as there may be another problem hun, might consist of going for a few scans etc. I wont go too much into detail but i can honestly say that itrs best to be safe than sorry. Also, if the Dr cant find anything wrong, maybe come off the injection for a little while just to see if it is actually that.

if you are still using the depo provera injection, it could be the cause. I bled at the start of the year for about 3 weeks and had a break of a week before getting a normal period. it plays havoc with hormones that injection. i came off it months ago and still haven't got a period back. Not pregnant by the way. Go to the doc anyway and if you can, change to another contraceptive.

The contraceptive injection can cause this or it can go the other way. I had it and never had a period for 5 years and after 8 months of stopping they finally returned. I suggest you look for other methods because it messes up your body.

It is unusual for a period to last that long. You should see the Dr, maybe it is the injection that is causing it. Although I have been having the injection for years and I have the opposite - no period at all. You better see the Dr as blood loss may make you anaemic as it is going on so long

3 1/2 weeks is a long time. It might not be anything to worry about but you should see a doctor. It can't be good to lose that much blood... and 1 week's bad enough to be on your period!

I thinkit is normal to have periods like this with the injection as it takes time for the body to adjust to the hormones it gives.
A friend of mine opted for this method and has had the odd longer period. Now she has none but it took a year for it to settle down. phone your doctor and have a chat with them over the phone to reasure you it saves an appointment but i am sure it is normal to every now and again have this happen it is a pain i know.
i had a coil fitted for menapause and was told my periods would be like this for a while but eventually they should stop and it is the same sort of hormone in the coil as injection released.

You need to go see a doctor. I had my period for 12 weeks straight just recently, I went to the doctor, had some blood work done, and they found out that I had a hormonal imbalance, you might have an imbalance, and you might have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, either way, you need to go and found out what's going on. Go see your doctor soon, although it's not something to get overly concerned about, hormonal imbalances are treated with birthcontrol, and I don't know about polycystic ovarian syndrome. But, really, talk to your doctor, asap! Hope this helps :)

That got here approximately to me once I went on the injection. i ended it and went on the tablet, it have been given extra effective straite away. Its because of the fact the partitions of your uterous (sorry approximately spelling) are thiner and dont 'carry' so which you purely save bleeding whilst many times the partitions would br build up. Am I making experience? My gynae defined it plenty extra effective. flow back to the place to procure the injection and ask approximately different procedures of birth control. Dont worry too plenty. you will come superb.

if you think 3 1/2 weeks is long you should try the one i just had, 16 weeks of constant bleeding.
