wash it and be sure to remove bags from both ends. Yes, when I first cooked a turkey I didn't know there was a bag of stuff in the neck area. Fix a nice stuffing if you want it in the turkey. Put it in a pan, sprinkle some poultry seasoning on it and cover wtih foil. Cook at 325 for 20 minutes/pound. Uncover the turkey the last half hour so it can brown. Baste it every once in a while with the juices. To see if it's done, stick a fork in the thigh and see if the juice runs clear. When you get it out of the over, leave it sit for 5 minutes then carve it.Enjoy!!

Basically, get those giblets out and either cook them up and use them or discard them. Take a paper towel and rub the turkey's skin with butter or oil, reach under the skin with the butter too, if you can stand doing that. Then stuff the bird with some bread and onion at least. Add sage or poultry seasoning and some chopped celery to the stuffing if you have it. Cover the turkey with foil and cook 15 minutes a pound. During the last half hour, take the foil off so the bird will get nice and brown. Give thanks!

I just prepared mine and put it in over...... I have a 12lb young turkey and I will let it cook for about 3.5 hours...at 325 degrees.. Cook your turkey 20 minutes for each pound it weighs. Unwrap it and pull the neck and giblets out.. You can leave that plastic wiring in there. I suggest to run hot water over the turkey first then season it and put in the oven

Unless you have a live turkey, the instructions should be on the package. If you have a cookbook, it will also have instructions on how to cook a turkey.
