What an excellent question! I think so many people are so focused on the negative and problems in their life they forget how much they are truly blessed with. Let's face it, it's easy to do!
The media and society that influences us ever where we turn only ads to this. We are almost conditioned to dwell on the negative. I think it started because people were trying to make the world a better place by focusing on the problems in order to improve the world. Somewhere along the way something changed and the focus became entirely negative and instead of trying to solve these problems it turned more into just documenting them! This makes people feel hopeless.
Parents need to break this cycle and teach their children that the glass really is half full! And a half full glass is by far better than none when you are thirsty!
We are all in such a rush these days we need to slow down and appreciate all the good things that happen and surround us each and everyday.
Who knows maybe just asking this question here will help someone think and change. And that is a GOOD THING!

Personally, I find it easier to take bad things for granted. As for the good stuff, you get used to not taking them for granted. I believe I will die any minute, so I almost never make plans for the future.

It's easy because we like good things to happen to us. We also expect them to happen everyday, which they do, and we don't even give it a full and complete thought because we are so busy doing other things.
