The National Turkey Federation. For more than 50 years, the NTF has presented the president with a live turkey and two dressed turkeys in celebration of Thanksgiving. Harry Truman was the first president to receive this honor in 1947. Each year, the president "pardons" the live turkey, who goes off to a historical farm to live out the rest of its years. It's for the kids.
