I definitely think yawning is contagious!
It certainly is when I put my 1 year old grandson
down for his morning nap. I notice that when I
yawn as I rock him he also will yawn. Most of the
time my yawns are the real thing but there have been
moments when he is resisting sleep so I add some
extra yawns. I have to make sure I keep my eyes
closed because there have been times when I
peeked and saw that he was watching me intently.
I have a near perfect record for putting him down
for his naps but there was one time I started laughing
at his vocalizing and never did get him down.

yes I do, because one day, my friend yawned because she did not get much sleep. So then I yawned and then my other friend yawned, and so on. So I think that yawing is contagious in my opinion.

the clarification we yawn is by technique of the fact our respiratory slows inflicting a loss of oxygen and so we yawn to soak up a deep breath, that's why we yawn as quickly as we are drained-our respiratory slows down. And as quickly as we see somebody else yawn our respiratory slows down extremely returned so we yawn :)

Yes it is. It's a sort of empathy reflex, possibly hard-wired into humans to synchronise behaviour.

I've heard it is, but I don't think it is contagious.
