i am undertaking a project on china and im struggling to find something on the chinese people's values any help would be great.

Family and education are very important in China. Divorce is rare. Because education is given high priority, that's why so many computer experts, medical professionals and researchers are Chinese.

Both the values of family and education stem from the Confucian tradition which was prevalent in China for many thousands of years. Look up Confucious on the Internet to learn more about the Confucian tradition.

Also, Chinese place more emphasis on the good of the group rather than the needs or wants of individuals. The Communists exploited this characteristic, which is one reason Communism became so widespread in China.

Traditionally, to defend and serve the country, to honor and protect the family, respect the elders, mentor the young yada yada with heavy communism influences.
It's still pretty much the same nowadays, but thanks to the great liberation and capitalism, it is heavily influenced by dollar, euro, sterling, RMB, gold and oil.

It depends on which era you are talking about. And also, Chinese is just a race. The values and qualities come from religion. Be more specific with your question.
