Neither of us finalised the divorce, we did the nisi bit but not the absolute. Are we still married and does it mean anything?
Does the nisi expire or automatically become absolute one day?

You need to get the absolute.

In the UK the absolute automatically follows 6 weeks after the Nisi unless one or other partner objects. However, if you don't have your absolute as proof of divorce you should consider yourself as still married. You need to obtain the absolute to ensure the process has been legally completed. Assuming you used a solicitor they should have a copy on file.

You're kinda semi divorced. You're not really fully married, but you're not free to go marry someone else either. I believe the absolute follows the nisi within a few months. But not being a divorce lawyer, i'd hate to say for certain. May i suggest you seek advice from one, and resolve it one way or the other. By the sounds of it, neither of you are ready to divorce. Good luck either way sweetie.

You are not married, you can't stop the absolute in the UK, once the nisi has been granted the absolute is automatic... the only difference is, you must apply for a copy of the absolute and get it posted to you.

Your marriage was ended in court documents and is ended now.

Twice divorced, twice petitioner, once without legal help, did it on my own.

YOU ARE STILL MARRIED. this obviously means that you both still have feelings for each other. if you didnt then you would have finalised the divorced. no matter what you will both always have some feelings for each other because you shared such an intimate thing ( marrage ), but there is obviously more than that.

Not divorced until the decree absolute, and it has to be applied for by the person who initiated the divorce.
