Lightly fry the fish in mustard oil ( you can choose rohu, betki, hilsa or any other Bengali fish )
Grind mustard seeds and mix with some water , red chilli powder and coriander powder and keep aside
Heat some mustard oil and add turmeric, salt, sliced green chillies and onion seeds ( kalaunji ). Add the mustard mix to this and bring to boil. Simmer for 5-10 minutes and then add the fish. Cook for another 5 minutes. Garnish with coriander seeds
I am a not a Bengali.Got this recipe from a Bengali friend's mom and it turns out so well that all my Bengali friends ask me to cook it for them !
