I'd rather a guy was just normal and friendly, cos 'lines' are staged and wouldnt portray ur true self... id rather the lad was himself so i can work out what hes like (and whether i like him or not ) from the offset rather than having someone say 'do u come here often ... ' or something like that. Natural is the way to go... hello do u want a drink, or i find that sometimes being really subtle and saying ' do u have the time...' or asking a normal question about the place will lead onto a convo thats normal and friendly which is inclined to make me feel less embarassed.... good luck!

Yeah. Anything that could fall into the category of a "line' is just not a good idea. Be natural. Don't worry about what the first thing you said was. Just start talking. If there's any way that you can see something to give a genuine compliment about (That's a great laptop. I have one like it.) or ask a question about (Is that book any good? I was thinking about reading it.), go with that. But only if it's genuine.

there is no best line full stop
just say the first thing that comes into your head
you sidestep all the tension this way.

Depends where you are or what time of day it is

Hello, would you like to join me for a bite to eat

just be natural. say whats best for you. but hello is usually what people say. and then ask the other persons name and take it from there.

Compliment her handbag, not in a sleazy way, say your sister has it too or something.
