Tomorrow I’ll be meeting a friend for a drink and I happen to be on antibiotics for few days. I know one shouldn’t be drinking but not sure why so can you please help?

Antibiotics are chemical poisions which are given as a necessary evil. They have many side effects and some of these antibiotics may react with alcohol and result in adverse reactions also. The best thing would be see what is the generic name of the antibiotic and see its reactions with alcohol in the internet and if there is no adverse reaction then go ahead with your party.

Alcohol might neutralize the effect of the antibiotic. It probably won't hurt if you just have a few this one time but you probably don't want to drink a lot after that just to make sure your antibiotics do their job.

most bacteria thrive in acidic environments so taking alcohol will actually boost their metabolism hence defeating the purpose of antibiotics which serve to eliminate bacterial infections

We do not talk here about disadvantage, but about death.
Consuming alcohol while taking antibiotics ocure to make an anaphilactic shoc and to die.

because alcohol sometimes causes the antibiotics to not work as well as they would w/o alcohol.

Please ask your pharmacist for information about your medication, it has the info you seek. Good luck.
