hard water
pros:
1)is good for you if you drink it
cons:
1)It takes more hard water to work up a lather with shampoo/soap/etc.
2)Causes limescale in washing machine/ dish washer/ kettle etc.
3)Is bad for you hair and skin if used in washing yourself.
4)it dries your skin and hair if used in washing yourself.

soft water
pros:
1)it takes less to make up a lather with shampoo /soap/etc.
2) it doesn't cause limescale.
3) it is good for your hair and skin.
4) it doesn't dry your skin.
cons:
1) it isn't necessarily bad for you if drank but is not as good as hard water when drank.

you can use "calgon" to stop limescale in your dishwasher but i haven't heard of any thing to stop limescale in other appliances.

Hard water is any water containing an appreciable quantity of dissolved minerals. Soft water is treated water in which the only cation (positively charged ion) is sodium. The minerals in water give it a characteristic taste. Some natural mineral waters are highly sought for their flavor and the health benefits they may confer. Soft water, on the other hand, may taste salty and may not be suitable for drinking.
hard water can be softened by lime or over an ion exchange resin
We know that lime is an acidic oxide so hard waterr is more harmful than soft water since it dehydrades water from skin.

any hard water will dry out your skin, but what you need is the in shower lotion from bath and body works. they make it in all different scents. you put it on in the shower (after body wash) then wash it off and it will leave your skin really soft :)
