lol. that's not just the french. that statement is true for most of the world. I'm not sure why but for some reason the world thinks we are bullies and rude. I mean all we did was singled out a religion(islam) and attacked their mian sources of power(oil). Ofcourse that was not before we got involved with the Isreali vs Arabia conflict. Oh and did I mention the tensions in El Salvador that we "resolved" back in 1993? Wonder why they think we are rude, eh?
By the way, the reason the french are at odds with us is because they refused to support King Bush in his assault on Islam so America retalliated by means of an unofficial boycott of french goods.

Well i think it's vice versa. Americans don't trust french or any nations right away. I think it's natural human nature not to trust to something that unfamiliar with. Italians are also considered vulgar and explosive. Indonesians considered as personal and family oriented. Chinese considered as cold but not really. We can go through the whole list but never find the perfect answer for that cuz this is universe full of plurality and heterogeinity. It's hard to tell at the end of the day. I can sum that it's human nature to be that way...

Not at all, the French just simply don;t like Americans like the rest of the world... There's many reasons, I live in Quebec so it's mostly French, but i never got a constructive answer to why exactly they don't like Americans. I'm French and i don't have anything against Americans...they have their reasons...I guess...

If you like to entertain prejudice, then sure, thats what the stereotype is, but I happen to know french people that don't judge americans before they meet them.
I met a good friend of mine who is french on the grey hound bus. I sat down next to her on a ride down to Seattle and we started talking. She was visiting Seattle for a week and going to stay at a youth hostel. I had heard of the hostel and that it was a real shady place, lot of druggies hanging out all the time, so I told her she should find somewhere else to stay. She asked if her and her friend could stay at my place for the week. For being French, she sure broke the mold of not trusting Americans. It turned out to be a real good week, and we're still friends.

"Who" has said it all.
I try to tell myself that not all Americans are Homer-Simpon-like and Bush-supporters, for it's a dumb prejudice. But most people around the world simply can't help it.
The difference is that French people will say this right on your faces, while others will pretend not to feel this way when they actually do.

Not only French. You should remember that few people can change ones point of view for all people of a certain nation.
