...restart the heart with an injection of adrenaline after it stops? Like in the movie, "Flatliners" and in an episode of "24". If not adrenaline, then something else maybe?

Adrenaline (we usually call it epinephrine) is used in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, but it will not restart the heart. Epinephrine makes the heart muscle more irritable, so that it is more likely to be receptive to defibrillation (electric shock).

Epinephrine is also used to increase heart rate and blood pressure, and for emergency treatment of anaphylactic shock and severe asthma.

(And we never give intra-cardiac injections, like in "Pulp Fiction". That is TOTAL fiction.)

You would have to know Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Adrenaline can be used when heart rate and blood pressure gets down, but cardiac massage goes first. If you have an automatic defibrilator, you can use it.

Actually, intracardiac epinephrine was used in resuscitation before we figured out that it didn't work. I last saw it done about 1986. The first step in restarting a heart is electrical cardioversion. Intravenous epinephrine can sometimes facilitate the conversion, but won't do it by itself.

Both shock with a defibrillator and adrenaline injection in combination are used to try to revive cardiac arrest. Antiarrhythmia drugs and atropine are also used. Atropine because vagal impulse my be causing shut down.
