I know, my husband did the same! I think the best thing to do is to say to them, "I appreciate the work that you do, but I have my own religion (even if you don't) and am very happy with my lifestyle." Good luck, but good for you for having respect for other human beings and being nice to them!

I have found there really isn't, unfortunately. Politeness will, in most cases, work against you with most Jehovah's Witnesses. To them, it is an invitation to teach you more about their faith and so they will push it further if you are nice to them. My advice? If you know they're Jehovah's Witnesses and you are in the position to do so, don't even open the door. That way, they can't start. If you are not in such a position(you've already opened the door or they've approached you out in the open), get them off your back immediately. Slam the door in their faces, walk away, get back in your car, etc. But don't say a peep to them- period.

They don't do nice. A no solicitor sign might help if you enforce it, but I put a NO JW sign and didn't let them on the porch and didn't discuss nothing with them. Finally they gave up. Oh yes, I called the Kingdom Hall and really complained, They have a stay away list like the Mormons.
They aren't Christian, and their Bible is not an authorized translation by ANY of the major Christian organizations. They have been taught and brainwashed to have all the answers, you can't compete with them intellectually.

Tell them you cant talk now as your solicitor is on the way to discuss the double murder charges of two Jehovas Witness brought against you but you would be more than willing to talk to them if they would like to call back later when its dark and no one else is around.

Just tell them that you are far too busy looking after your sick mother upstairs and have to get on as she is in the bath. They sometimes go all gooey on you cause your doing a nice thing but the bath part should put them off. If they try the shall we come back later bit just say that you are off to the hospital later. normally works for me! (Lying I know but for a good cause, your sanity!)

I have my own religion. They came to my door a couple of weeks ago. I told them to get off of my property before I called the police. I don't think people should be knocking on my door preaching. I can find my own religion.

Just be polite and say that you're sorry but you're too busy. If you answer the door looking flustered then it's more believable!! You sound like you are too nice!

Just tell them you prefer a religion of your own choice and close the door before they get chance to answer.

It happened to myself a few times, and I always told them I do NOT believe in the same thing they do. I was always polite when I told them so, and I WAS being truthful. They walked away hearing what I said.

This works for me.
I very sweetly offer to share my favorite prayer with them.
They accept my offer.
I say:
"Lord, help me to discover the truth and deliver me from those who have already found it."
Then I wish them a good day and shut the door.
