Take a look at http://www.visitbritain.co.uk/ to see if this can give you any ideas. A couple of ideas of mine:
1) use Newquay as a base to visit Cornwall;
2) head of to the Lake District;
3) use Belfast as a base to visit Northern Ireland;
4) Edinburgh is a very pleasant city to visit;
5) as is York;
6) stay in any town on the Isle of Wight to explore the island.
If you are looking for accomodation, Smooth Hounds Systems http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/ is an internet directory of guesthouses in the UK and may be of help.

Oxford or Cambridge are the traditional towns - Oxford's particularly good, it's got covered markets and obviously the University so you can walk around the Colleges - go to Christchurch College where Harry Potter was filmed. Also there are lots of comedy clubs and things if you like English humour, there are some lovely little cafes and restaurants and some decent shopping too. It rains a lot though!

I'd recommend the Lake District for a romantic getaway. It's definitely one of the most pretty, natural and scenic places in England. Walk in the park, take a boat ride, and visit the attractions. I'm sure you and your bf will enjoy it there.

How about Truro, St. Ives or Bude. These are all lovely areas. Or perhaps Hastings, Tenby or Bath? All these places are lovely & are idyllic. They are picturesque & most of them have amazing harbours that look so peaceful & are the perfect place to spend time with the one you love.
