I did two tours in 'Nam and was shot twice, I had a heart attack and died for a moment, brought back. I had open heart with six bypasses. I have degenerative osteoarthritis in the severe stages and have had surgery eight times. I will be in a wheel chair soon. So, what's the question, am I afraid of what? death? Hell no, I've had him riding on my shoulder for years, we're old friends.
I won't be sorry to go when my time comes. My God knows me and my time, we know each other quite well, we've had quite a time together.
God and I knew death in the muddy fox holes of Viet Nam and the hospital beds here in the U.S. I'm not afraid, most of my friends have taken that trip, my family is waiting. We all have our time. Take care don't be afraid, know your God.

You do noy have to afraid of death if you are ready to face the situation after death.
All religions agree that the next stop depends on the good karma that you have collected. According to christianity you go to heaven or hell depending on your own deeds.
According to buddhism and hinduism you next birth depends on your karma. As in christianity you can go to hell or heaven depending on your karma. You also can get another birth. As to whether it will be a human or animal birth depends on your karma.
Therefore every week or if possible every day do some good karma. This way you will be ready to face death. Remember you do not take your Bank Account with you. You leave it behind for other's to enjoy and you will be taking only your KARMA Account with you.

I am terrified of death because of a few reasons. One the "unknown" and two if I wind up were ever my dad is. I mean you hear all the stories like pearly white gates and so on but I am just not believing it to be true. I want it to be but I just don't believe it. And then there's dad, I am so terrified that he will continue there what he started here. Ok, sounds crazy but he beat me and even at 40 I am terrified of being near him again. I am also afraid because I am a single parent and what will happen to my daughter, who will protect her and teacher her like I am? Yup I am afraid for many reasons and opt to stay alive!

It is enevitable, you can't stop it, and its a part of life. Accept this then you can get on with enjoying however long you have got. I must admit it is much easier to think this way when I do not know my death may be imminent, ignorance is bliss. I may be more afraid if I had a terminal illness so knew it was soon!

I will be going to a better place. I have tried to live life so my mother in heaven would be proud of me. I will meet both my mother and father some day and all of my ancestors. My mother died when I was 8 years old. There are so many things I want to know about her. By the way . . . . she has been my guardian angel. I feel her spirit with me all the time. I need to add that I have also tried to please God The Father of all mankind. I have sinned and repented. I feel I have made peace with God.
I like CowBoyDoc answer to your question. He tells it how it is.

im not... because i never expected to live forever, and its soooo absolutely insane that i exist in the first place.
to me conciousness is just an illusion to begin with.
i am a very complexly organized chunk of self replicating matter...
my "self" is simply an emergant property of the matter that is my brain.
in the context of this topic, i look at a human the same way i look at a boulder tumbling down a hill... matter reacting.. exactly the way it has to based on the laws of physics.
the matter you are made of changes over time.. so then it follows that a human is simply the information of how their matter is organized. .. we have this illusion of continuity... this amazing and beautiful illusion of a self that is seperate and free from causality... death is simply the end of that illusion, and while i do love the illusion, death is simply the end of something that never existed in the first place.

I can't say that i'm afraid of death. Sometimes i even want to die. Once a fomous russian write wrote someting like that "if we knew what is going to happen after death we would probably won't be so afraid to die"And i can add "or we would be more afraid to die". Everybody will die. the only think that scares me is to be ill and die coz it pains. i'd like to die when i'm sleeping.

Yeah sometimes but then why be afraid of the inevitable. I'm concerned about the circumstances more than the actual occurrence
