Paint, using a paint that is washable after drying. Wall paper is not usually a good choice in a kitchen because of steam from the sink and stains from other products.

I'm sure our taste in decor is different, but I would use a water-base semi-gloss paint, with just the slightest hint of color to it. Paint the entire kitchen and while your waiting for that to dry, go to the sewing/cloth store, and buy enough material for one wall. Any pattern will do.When the paint is dry, put the material up on your wall ,using liquid starch from the market. Material is so much easier to use than wallpaper. It' easy to put up,easy to wash(just take it down and wash it in the washer) and alot less expensive.By the way, I have it in my kitchen, right over the stove. It's also a small kitchen, and the matereal has never fallen off or peeled!

The size of ANY room has absolutely nothing to do with either application. VENTILATION isn't a problem either. Unless you have serious alleries to latex paint on any sensory level, the "smell" is either non existant, dissipates rapidly, and is non toxic.

You don't state whether or not you want the illusion of larger size, and perhaps it doesn't matter, but neither does any finish you apply to the walls.

That said however, after applying thousdands of gallons of paint, and long ago choosing NEVER to install another roll o wallpaper, I know this much. "The customer is Always right,,, even when they aren't.

Because of the little ventilation it is better to paint it. The wall paper might get very sticky and dirty because of the moist from cooking. The paint let the walls and the room to "breath" easier.

Use paint. Definitely not Wall paper. Some people use oil paint because its easier to clean. Oil paints generate heat. So I don't agree. Paint and tiles will do. Put tiles around the sink and cooking area. That way you can wipe clean after wards.

Paint it. Wallpaper adhesive can become undone by heat. Begin to curl, or come off. And with a small, confined kitchen space its best to paint. Its going to generate a lot of heat and steam while cooking. If paint is too boring, spice it up with tile on parts of the wall. You can purchase ceramic tile pieces at Home Depot and put them on with adhesive. Good luck!

I'm partial to paint. It will last longer. You can get paints especially for kitchens (Sherwin Williams has one called Bath Paint for bathrooms and kitchens). You can also dress up the paint by texture painting or painting then adding a tile backspalsh behind your stove and sink areas.

I would go with paint. I would also use a semi-gloss because it is easier to keep clean. I would stay away from paper if your ventilation is lacking, you could find your paper peeling off the corners, over time, if it gets humid enough, just by boiling water for dinner everyday.

Since the kitchen is small, I suggest you paint it. Wallpaper (depending on style and color) can make the kitchen look smaller and can be a lot of work.
