We're from Yorkshire, and so want to stop nearby on either the Fri or Sat night, and have a meal or a few drinks.
Will be driving down, so is it best to stay out of London?
Any ideas would be appreciated. Have only found out we're going today which is why I'm asking so late. Thanks

Twickenham only has 3 hotels, check out the yell link below for contact info for the places mentioned

The Bremic Hotel is right next to the stadium but isnt ideal for parking as its on a residential street and every where requires resident permits on match days, and Im guessing will be full up by now.

The Premier Travel Inn is about a 10 minute walk to the stadium and is next to a really nice pub / restaurant which do good roasts, it also has its own car park.

The Pope's Grotto Hotel is about a 20 minute walk and im quite sure it has its own car park but worth double checking!

If these places are all booked up you could try a little further afield like Richmond (search Yell) I cant really comment on the hotels cause I dont really know them, but its easy to get to Twickenham by bus (loads of buses) or train (1 stop), plus the town centre is great for restaurants and bars.

I wouldnt really advise driving into Twickenham on match days cause it can be a bit manic.

The other choice is nearby to Twickenham is St Giles in Feltham:

Quite a big hotel with its own car park, right next to the train station and its only one or two stops from Twickenham, or you could get a bus taking about 15 mins. Unfortunately Feltham isnt great for an evening out but you could go into Twickenham which has great restaurants (try church street!)

Or about half hour by train is Windsor - lots of hotels there with plenty of places to go in the evening, you could make the weekend of it! Have a look at http://www.thetrainline.com for times, its a direct train which is good!

At this late notice I would think most of the closest places will be booked up already. Maybe try out of town a little? There are some great B&B's in Midlothian, such as Carlethan House, and it's only about 5miles from the city centre. Really good value too, not like those stinky big city hotel prices.

Sorry! An obsessed Scotland fan and didn't notice the whole England bit going on.... did think it was a bit strange you'd be coming up from Yorkshire, right enough! Well, if you are ever up this way you now know where to stay. Have fun at twickers!
