so whenever i click on a link, a number of windows open up to the same link ..

is it all links or just a certain site?
some sites embed code into the page to open links in a blank window (meaning opens a new window) and if they have that code in not only the body of the page but also the frame where the link is, it could cause the link to register more than once.
If it is happening on every link, I'd say you have some sort of weird program setting going on there. Check your mouse settings in the control program for the "speed" controls, it could be that you have the double clicking or something like it setup too fast so that when you click on something its registering more than once

This may be a problem in how your mouse is set up. If you are used to double clicking to open things and only one click works, then the computer settings for the mouse need to be changed.
