I'm a little stuck and just wondered whether the court case comes straight away or it's left a few months for the gathering of evidence.
If it's left a few months, where does the suspect go?

I apologise for having it in the entertainment and music question, I was in a rush and didn't check.

They would usually be remanded in custody- this can be for a long time as murder cases are held at crown court, which takes ages to be heard- could be up to 2 years

depending on the amount of evidence, likelihood of them absconding and previous criminal record they could be given bail, often with an amount to pay.

If they are not bailed out and remain remanded in custody this length of time is taken of their sentence if found guilty- unless they are "detained at her majesty's pleasure"- ie put in prison until they are fit for release, usually longer than a life sentence

He is remanded in custody. In the case of most crimes, there is a presumption in favour of granting bail, but for serious crimes the presumption is weighted the other way. On remand the prisoner would enjoy certain privileges which a convicted prisoner would not have in the form of extra visits, etc. This time will count towards any prison sentence imposed. There will be a long wait for trial, not just because of the gathering of evidence and the need of the lawyers to prepare themselves, but because of the very overburdened court lists. A person charged with murder in England now would expect his trial to take place in June at the earliest. If you are interested in remand prisoners, here is a link:

Remanded in jail until they decide whether to put the question in Law and Order or leave it in Entertainment and Music.
The court case is ALWAYS delayed unless the accused pleads guilty, and the accused can be held in any suitable prison, usually fairly close to the scene of the crime so that he/she can be questioned without police having to travel too much.

Could the Firearms offences connect him to Rhys? Lets hope so for the sake of Rhys' family. This has dragged out too long. How can a bunch of low-life scallywag hoodies, scupper a murder investigation? There has to be, must be, some evidence, somewhere, in order to connect this suspect to Rhys, nick him and bang him up for life.

Well, actually, they are kept in Alton Towers, whereby they are give free daily 'passes' until the case can come to court.

At which time they are transferred to the nearest Hilton hotel for the duration of the trial, so they may be be well rested and 'of sound mind' whilst they undergo the rigours of such a stressful, and time demanding process.

Hope this info helps....

Peace out.

If the charge is murder, the suspect typically doesn't get bail. He or she stays in jail. The difference between jail and prison is that jail holds people waiting for trial and those convicted of misdemeanor crimes. Prison is mainly for people convicted of felonies. The murder suspect stays in jail before and during the trial. If convicted, he goes to prison. If acquitted, he goes free immediately.
