John 8:32
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
James 1:26-27
"If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."

Yes I see them as attempts to answer some truly hard questions:
Where does evil come from?
What is the purpose of life?
Do we have free will?
Where do we come from?
Religions try to answer these questions. I have no idea if there is a Truth or just relative truths but since we can know some small truths maybe there is a Truth.

Creator Unknown, you remind me of Michael the Archangel. He is a bad-a** Warrior who taught me many things. He taught me how to use my aggression creatively. How to use my intellect like a skilled swordsman. His name is actually a challenging question. Michael means,"Who is like God?", Messengers who have trained under him tend to be the type who challenge those who promote or believe the false Truth. They stand ready to "drive Satan out of Heaven". They usually possess the power of intention and exhibit the qualities of discipline, focus, commitment, faithfulness, loyalty, and sacrifice. From one warrior to another; "Fight the good fight!",SM

Religion can solve problems (many people are comforted) and Religion can create problems (100 million victims of sectarian violence).

Nowadays, thanks to fanatics, zealots, they are like different ways to "aggravate" the same problem.
