trichotillomania can be caused by stress. when she is pulling her hair out try to make her focus on something that doesn't stress her out.
also suggest that she wears something on her head, like a wig or a hat something unusual so she feels a different texture and she might think before she pulls her hair out.
my husband had trichotillomania (still does to some degree) he would pull his hair out and snap it. i would slap his hands even when the hair had been pulled out already and he was to snap it.
he has no massive bald patches now.

well, firstly, as a women that has had it for over 10 years, and has had very much imporovement, Give her a lot of support, don't make fun of her, and give her the feeling and encouraging words that she can do it. (stop the habit). Both of you should start becoming aware of when she does it, that is a real eye openner, once u know more or less, when and where she does it, you can figure out what triggers it, and try to avoid those situations or make them more pleasent etc. if it's really bad, wearing hats, kercheifs or even a wig can really help. i think it's learning how to better deal with anxiety. she can take a natural anxiety reducer, and that has helped me tons. hope i was some help, browse on forums etc for more hints and tidbits, but each individual has to find out what is really the source of the problem. Good luck.

regrettably, I actually have a similar situation as you, and its seems to worsen even as i'm annoying or lower than pressure. compared to you I tie my hair in knots with one hand,(of direction no longer my pubic hair!) and then both pull it out from the roots, fairly a huge bite each and every from time to time, or I rip the knot off leaving a good number of chop up ends and distinct lengths of hair which will develop right into a nightmare even as i bypass to get it shrink. fortunately I actually have very thick hair even though it really is surely thinner on one aspect. I actually have the pubic hair situation yet pull them out with tweezers and seem on the roots, so that you're literally not on my own! each and every from time to time i come across that situation beads help to save your fingers busy and also it helps even as your hair is moist or tied up. i actually dont imagine your GP might want to say that your being stupid, because you're literally not the purely one, I actually have a pal who also has a situation with the pubic hairs, and fantastically likes pulling out ingrown ones! i'd bypass decrease back to the GP, there might want to correctly be some form of anti-depressant or anti stress medicine that would want to really help you, in case you pick to take medicine. You dont say how lengthy your hair is, or no matter if it thick or skinny? I smoke so as that occupies my fingers fairly lots, although I dont advise you initiate that! attempt some situation beads, they have been used for hundreds of years everywhere in the midsection east even as they are wondering, chatting and so on, so there should be something relaxing about taking section in with them. i'm hoping there is something right here that would help. Go see a doctor with her. A psychiatrist would be fine. OCD can be easily treated in a few weeks with medications.
