So is it true that if you pray to Jesus instead of God, you won't go to heaven because you're praying to another God and the 10 Commandments says "Thou shalt not have any other Gods before me"? My pastor told me that. I go to the Door Christian Fellowship.

your pastor is right. God is the only God. Jesus is but a creation of God.

Jesus IS God, but His role in heaven is not the same as God the Father's role. Jesus taught us to pray to the Father, in Jesus' name. I don't believe it is a sin to pray to Jesus, nor would it be a sin to pray to the Holy Spirit. However, we are told to address God the Father directly. Jesus is our advocate; our mediator. That is His role, though He is God the same as the Father.

For another perspective on this, read John chapter 1 carefully. It says that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." This is the same Word which gave the Ten Commandments your pastor speaks of. Now, go on to verse 14 where it says "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." So, it WAS Jesus who said we should not have other gods before Him.

Blessings!

The only way to God, if you are a true Christian is through Jesus Christ. The Father,The Son,The Holy Spirit all connected as one.Isn't that the reason he died for us ,our sins!Ten Commandments came long before Christ,Old testament verses New.Your pastor is just that,a Pastor.I got a certificate that says I am an Ordained Priest cost 2 dollars so should I be always right or wrong.Do what your heart and soul tell you to do,it comes from within ,not from within words!

So what is your question? Jesus and His Father are one. Jesus is God. Ask your Pastor to read the whole of the gospel of John.

Your pastor is nuts. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit all make up God. This is known as the Trinity.

God is not just one single guy sitting up in the clouds. God is omni-present and according to the christian doctrine, is made up of a trinity. The father, son, and holy spirit. The son (Jesus) represents Gods love whom was sent to earth to die for us. God is of infinite power and wisdom who cannot be described as a single entity.

If you read through the old testament you'll find that God's law was that the end result of sin was Death. That was why he once flooded the earth and destroyed all eccept Noah and his family who kept his laws.....EVERYONE else was destroyed because of their sin. You will find many scenerios in the old testament where any sin from man resulted in destruction. But through God's wisdom and his love for humanity, he sent his son Jesus, whom was a part of him, to die so that we would not have to. Because of that we must seek Jesus because we are all born of sin in our hearts and only he can save us and bring us to the father.

Pray to the Father. Christ is the door and Jesus showed you the way.

Jesus IS God. Don't worry about going to heaven. Just live as Jesus did, a life of love, tolerance and forgiveness.
