When I was a little kid--about 5 or 6--I spent some time on my grandparents' farm in Wyoming. I remember a trip with my mom and little sister to the outhouse in the middle of a snowy night.
What a miserable experience. Yes, I am very thankful for indoor plumbing.
Incidentally that was about 60 years ago.

In winter....oh ya! Thank God for the people who make the indoor plumbing. I am liking that a lot!!
In the summer...I go camping and spend time in nature and then I get home and again....I thank God for indoor plumbing and electricity and hot water.
You are correct....we take it for granted, until it is unavailable and then we learn to appreciate it.

I even have an indoor bathing room and a kitchen sink and the water that runs from it comes from indoor plumbing, so specific I even have indoor plumbing. I stay in an condo, each thing outdoors is public so i don't have something outdoors. yet i'm going to assert "bushes", bushes is my answer. notwithstanding, if that's a riddle or some sh*t then possibly you ought to make that extra sparkling.

Sounds like you may have lived as long as I have. I like your question. I can't even begin to be thankful for indoor plumbing every time I flush the toilet and I say to myself, "Your going down". That is one time I'm grateful for paying taxes. Our taxes pay for the infrastructure in our town and cities. We just flush and that's the last we see of it. We got our indoor plumbing 66 years ago. I was 5 years old. I still remember vividly that first night I didn't have to go outside in the dark while the coyote's howled. Just as vivid in my mind when my dad hollered and said, "who wants to be the first to bath in the new bath tub". I can still see the water flowing out of the faucet. We were use to bathing in the # 2 wash tub. You are making me think about all we need to be thankful for when we have our Thanksgiving prayer with all the family. The young ones won't ever be able to appreciate all the conveniences we take for granted. Happy Thanksgiving.

sometimes when my roommate is done im not very thankful for indoor plumbing. i am not thankful for electric when i get the bill but about 28 days of the month i am.

Very! Some of my family lived way in the mountains in TN,and KY when I was young,we would go visit.They had No electric and no indoor plumbing.Some probably still don't.They where happy though,so I guess you don't know what you've got till it's gone!

After being in Iraq for almost two years with no indoor plumbing and having to use nasty porta johns everyday,you bechor bottom dollar I am.

I give a lot of thought to electricity. Our power grid in the US is probably our most important asset in the US.
I've also had a couple of late night trips to real outhouses in my younger years and I am surely glad to have a nice warm indoor commode to sit on.

If you've never required shoes and a flashlight to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, then you probably do take these things for granted
