It may be compulsory to vote in other nations but not in the USA. Age is irrelevant, A person can be 100 years old and still vote. He/she doesn't even have to go to the polling place. They can vote at home using a voting card and by sending it to the voting center in your state.

we are made to vote in Australia otherwise we pay a fine.
you can do as the other guy said or just put a big cross on it but that does nothing really because it still gets counted towards the government in power
maybe ring the electoral roll place up & ask them
you would think at 84 you didn't have to vote
but women have to work til 64 now & years down the track it may be 84 LOL

Wow! I learned something today. I did not know about mandatory voting. In the US, voting is never compulsory and there is not upper age limit. However jury duty is compulsory and seniors (age depending on the particular municipality) are often exempted.

in America voting has never been compulsary. It is a priviledge and a responsibility. Elders can and should vote as long as they are of sound mind and don't let anyone else influence them. I used to work in a County Auditors office. Part of my job was to go to the nursing homes and shut-ins and help them vote absentee. Party workers would go before the election and sign them up to vote. When I go there a lot of them were confused. I have seen a lot of election fraud in nursing homes. Some of my co workers would stand and tell these people where to put their mark. I might add the
Democrats were the worse at this that I have seen.

As long as the person has not lost their voting rights, due to a felony or being declared mentally incompetant, they should have a right to vote. Compulsory is a different story. Voting is an exercise in free will, at least here in the US. You don't have to vote if you don't want to, but if you don't vote, you have no right to complain! :)
