What do you do while you are awake at night, besides Yahoo Answers?
I have bad insomnia and don't go to bed generally until 6 or 8 in the morning, every morning.
Sometimes I crash cuz I'm so exhausted and sleep all day long (like today). But I cannot sleep at night. Too much to do and too much in my mind, and it's my only peaceful time to myself since I'm a stay at home mother.

I just like to hear what others do while they're awake with insomnia, and who out there, besides me, has it.:)

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

I roll with it. I have two children, one 3 and one 9 months. I can't take anything for mine, so I just deal with it. When they are awake, I usually have a few sodas or some coffee. But I get regulated every few nights. For about 2-3 nights in a row I'll be ok, and then for a week I'll be out of whack. As a matter of fact, I should try sleeping now. They're at my mom's house, so I can crash and not worry about hearing a baby cry. Niters.

Dear lisapf7,
i don't have insomnia but i know a particular brother in the Lord who did and some of us began to pray for him and over time his insomnia got better.
In the Psalms it talks about how good sleep is from the Lord.
You may also want to see a physician to see if there are any physical things contributing to your insomnia (ie: caffeine, anxiety, etc.)
The Bible does also tell us: Be anxious for nothing, but everything by prayer...
But i have found prayer to be quite helpful and i will pray for you. i am offering you this answer too because you are in the religion section...
Hope that helps.
Kindly,
Nickster

Well, last night I actually did have insomnia and so I started praying that anyone else in my family who had a hard time sleeping would relax and go to sleep. Also I practiced tensing up all my muscles at once and then released them. Sometimes that helps tire you out.

I can't sleep either ... i'm usually up to like 5 or 6 AM as well. I've tried all kinds of things but can't seem to solve that one. I guess this isn't much of an answer, I just thought it might be a comfort to know someone else out there is staying up late with ya! :)
God bless!

herbal remedies work very well to help you relax and get to sleep. Hypnosis is another great way to relax and induce sleep. I understand how you feel about your quiet time, but your body really needs to rest. You will only feel worse during the day without the proper sleep and may even get sick. Good Luck!

Yes, and they put me on low dose anti-depressants that work only sometimes. Right now I take Ativan. It works great except it is really addicting. I just try and keep busy most of the day and then Isleep a little better at night.

I'm a little lost on your ? Are you asking what to do with your hrs awake, or how to cope with insomnia? The reason for me asking is it seems to me that you enjoy those hrs alone.

Take time to pray.... the night time when it is quiet is such a good time to "seek the Lord". I am so thankful when I get up in the middle of the night!!
But it sounds like you are under a lot of stress.....
I will - and I am sure others will - pray that God help you.....
