agreed. thats like if some other religion made a movie and said "witness the true story" all the christians would be sooo offended. even when i went to opening day of da vince code the movie[just happen to be near the theater] i saw PROTESTERS!! so christians can protest about anything non christian but when someone non-christian protests one of their bible humping movies its considered "disturbing the peace"...or "offending people." what kind of intolerant, double sided bull is that????

No. I don't like horror movies to begin with and the idea of one being based on a true story would lead me to believe it's a bunch of crap. Does anyone remember a little film called Blair Witch? Who really believed that was all true?

Dear Capsule J,

There is proof- but probably not that you have accepted to be true. Historically speaking the nativity is historically accurate. One of the best parts of America is that everyone has freedom so you have the freedom to change the channel when you see the trailer and you have the freedom to not watch the film.

i think the makers of the film emphasized Based on a true story because there are so many movies about Christmas which miss the true meaning of Christmas though many of those movies do convey great themes.

Kindly,

Nickster

the nativity scene is definitely taken from facts in the bible..... but in its current presentation (even if we assume the Bible to be completely without flaw) it would not be true. the visitors to the manger would not have arrived there until Jesus was likely a year old or more. certainly not the night he was born considering that most travelling of the time was done on foot. there are many other indescrepencies.... so i would agree with your view point

peace to all

Yes, because it was documented in the bible and it has been passed down person to person through-out the centuries. Think of the story of Abraham Lincoln. You know it is true for the same reason.

Da vinchi code didn't say fiction on the trailer so Christians shouldn't have to put labels on our stuff.

So, what makes it untrue?

Simon Greenleaf, a founder of the Harvard Law School, actually set out to disprove the Gospel accounts. After he finished his research, he made a rather bold statement. The Gospels would stand up to the rules of evidence in court.

Therefore, the movie must be based on a true story.

It would be more accurate to say, "based on the stories of the Bible".

Yes. There is scientific proof that Jesus Christ existed - which means he was in fact born, and there was in fact a Mary and a Joseph. Whether you believe He is the Messiah or not is a different issue - but there is enough evidence to state that a man, known as Jesus *did* exist.
