I am having Thanksgiving tomorrow. I've never hosted, and believe it or not I've never made mashed potatoes from scratch. I found a good recipe, but I am taste testing them and they taste dry. I boiled the potatoes in chicken broth, then added sour cream, cream cheese, and butter. I will be refrigerating them and baking them tomorrow, and adding chives. Should I add milk or something? I have no leftover broth. Thanks for any help!

im achef and ill tell you the best thing to do since you described the ingredients to me i already no whats in it so listen carefully get a measuring cup put in two teaspoons of the sour cream i teaspoon of the cream cheese put that into a blender if you have one if not mix it by hand in a bowl with a forkfill the measuring cup half way with milk and mix that in with the sc and cc if more milks needed for the mix then add more but moderaletly you want a like a shake of sorts in the bowl just a really runny shake and start pouring that into the mashed potatoes but make sure you are stirring the potatoes while you pour in the milk that way it gets mixed throughout the mashed potatoes and moistens everything pour a bit mix a bit stop tastetest proceed form there

Milk would be a better option in that case. Milk is a very good softener for mashed potatoes.

Add a splash of milk, cream or if all else fails - 1/2 tbsp of mayo.....works every time.

You could add a tablespoonful of whole milk per cup of mashed potatoes, or light cream for a richer flavor and texture.
