I have been chatting to this man online, and we have talked on the phone. We get on well i have really long conversations with him. Hes forty years old and never wanted children. He says he liked older children but not young ones, well i have my grandson living with me and hes 6. I told him this.
My son says hes like his dad and his girlfriend selfish sort of people who do not like to share, well i ws going to meet him tonight but this has totally put me off, i want to meet a man who likes kids. its really strange to me not normal, i think hes been very spoilt, he likes to be the only one in someone,s life. He,s goes on about material things alot his house what hes getting, i get sick of it.

You sound a little confused if you don't mind my saying - you get on well yet you are sick of his conversations about material things?

You know what? I think you probably do like this man and you want to meet him but you have lost your 'bottle' - you are fearful of the unknown and of putting yourself 'out there'. You have to take a risk now and again if you want to achieve happiness or anything else. Don't hide behind your grandchild any longer. Yes, you are a loving and caring gran but you are also a woman with needs and perhaps it would do you no harm to listen more closely to what this man might be trying to say to you in that respect.

Incidentally, he may also be belabouring the point about not being keen on kids because he doesn't fancy taking on the role of grandad at 40 !

I would just chill out, go and meet him and see what happens. I am sure you are due a night out! Let your son do the babysitting for once!

So men are just not interested in kids. Mine is not but either am I so it works out. Also some men are scared of the whole being a daddy thing. They dont think they will be good at it, or they didnt have a good one to learn from, or they are just plain selfish.

If he's 40 5 and your history exams got here across not something then possibly he only definitely likes toddlers! he's babysat for many mothers. Did you call those mothers up. only simply by fact he looks atypical, would not recommend he's committing a criminal offense.

Don't meet up with him then, anyway it all sounds dodgy to me, he may 'LIKE' children more than he's letting on! Be very careful. Also why are you discussing this with your 6 year old grandson?

he let you know he doesn't like children so what choice do you have? Move on . You're not going to change him and he has every right to like or not like children same way you do. Just because you think your child is cute doesn't mean everyone else has to.

Some people just can't get on with kids, men and women, it does not mean that they hate them, but by what you say in your last sentence, it seems you are not going to get on any way,

It sounds like you got a little selfish guy on your hands, you sound like a family oriented person and a guy like that would only try to keep you grounded and way from the people that mean to you the most.I say dont waist your time..

A man that doesn't like kids is a selfish man. He wants all the attention without anything or anyone to interfere with your relationship. Drop him before he drops you for not giving him what he "deserves"

I agree with him. In this day and age, children are a horrible thing.

The fact that I feel that way, has proven to be a big barrier to dating.
